Shadow over Innsmouth

I thought I would start of this blog by showing what I have been upto most recently.
I took part in the 3 week concept sculpting class over at http://www.cgsociety.org/ ran by Bryan Wynia.
The brief was to re design the creature from the H.P Lovecraft story "A shadow over Innsmouth" which can be read here  http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/theshadowoverinnsmouth.htm.
The creatures are decribed as these fish/frog-like humanoids that live at the bottom of the ocean but are also able to come onto land.
The assignments were to create 3 speed sculpts to first try and capture an idea of the creature and then use those sculpts to create 20 thumbnail designs to further explore different design ideas.
We then had to choose one of the thumbnail designs, and develop it further into a final sculpt, paint it and then render a final image using Zbrush and Photoshop.
So here are the speed sculpts. I ended up doing 5 speed sulpts, with the 1st, 2nd and 5th ones taking 1.5 hours to make and the other two around 40 to an hour because they were built by changing up the 2nd (too human looking) sculpt.
